About Dr. Neema Pourtaheri


Dr. Neema Pourtaheri specializes in treatment of Shoulder and Elbow disorders. He is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and an elected member of the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Pourtaheri earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley where he graduated with high honors and was a member of the National Engineering Honor Society (Tau Beta Pi). He also graduated with honors from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He then completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey where he was honored as chief resident in his final year. He then completed a Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, New York. He has been in practice since 2013. Dr. Pourtaheri feels fortunate to have trained alongside some of the world’s finest Orthopedic Surgeons in a time of dramatic technological advances. He offers the latest advances in surgical and non surgical care of Shoulder and Elbow conditions.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Pourtaheri has published award-winning articles for medical journals and presented his findings at numerous professional conferences. He is also an official reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, the world’s most prestigious journal in that field. Away from his practice, he enjoys family time with his wife and three children and recreational pursuits ranging from mountain biking, kayaking, and tennis to snowboarding and more.
